Private Gardens

At Haling Park Care Home, we are fortunate to house beautiful landscaped gardens, offering residents the ideal, safe space to stretch their legs, enjoy fresh air and take in the natural beauty our gardens have to offer.

When residents wish to enjoy some time to themselves, or they want to invite their loved ones for an alfresco meal, our gardens are the perfect spot to sit back and relax in.

Outdoor Activities

When the weather permits, our Activity Coordinator arranges for as many activities to be set-up in the garden as possible. Enjoying the garden allows residents to enjoy a change of scenery and make the most of the various wildlife that visits us. With activities such as planting flowers and vegetables, watering the plants and maintaining bird feeds there is always something to do in our private garden. We actively encourage our residents to participate in gardening activities and reap great health and social benefits.

Sensory Garden

Our sensory garden consists of four themed corners: The Beach, an area where residents can reminisce about past holidays, a Herb Garden filled with stimulating and therapeutic scents, Bug Corner full of bright exciting colours and textures and a Royal Garden which includes our very own Royal Corgi. The sensory garden was created in order to stimulate our residents’ senses in many ways, by providing a plethora of smells, lots of colourful flowers and different textures.

Private Gardens FAQs

Providing our residents with the opportunity to get outdoors regularly enables them to get fresh air, engage in outdoor activities, and enjoy the natural world. It has many mental and physical benefits including reducing stress and anxiety, and improving overall mood, cognitive function, cardiovascular health, balance and muscle strength.

Just a few of the outdoor activities that residents can partake in include walking, gardening, exercise sessions, and picking herbs, and when the weather permits, residents can dine with loved ones, participate in outdoor arts & crafts and enjoy live entertainment.

Our garden has wheelchair-accessible paths and seated furniture for those with mobility issues. Our private garden is secure with proper fencing and gates, to prevent residents from wandering off or getting lost. We have well-maintained paths, lighting, and other safety features to prevent falls or other accidents.
