Chef Appreciation Day

At Haling Park Care Home, we understand the importance of food and the impact it has on our residents. For older people, not only are nutrition and hydration crucial for overall health and wellbeing, but cooking and eating can also play a big part in their happiness.

Most people have their favourite foods, or their own personal preferences when it comes to meals and dining, and at our care home in Croydon, we pay particular interest in ensuring that our residents are able to enjoy food the way they want to.

Whether it is cooking or baking as part of our extensive activities programme, providing menus with a variety of choices, meeting the dietary requirements of residents, or encouraging residents to use our private dining room for occasions with family, when it comes to food, we go above and beyond.

Of course, none of this would be possible if it wasn't for the dedication and hard work of our Head Chef and kitchen team, which is why we recently held a Chef Appreciation Day.

For our residents we held a special arts and crafts session that centred around cooking, which was wonderful for the residents as it brought back fond memories of when they previously cooked, and it also strengthened the bonds between our residents and kitchen team.

Our chefs also took this as an opportunity to teach the residents new cooking skills and talk to them about what they enjoy most in their roles as chefs. In return, we had a gift presentation for the kitchen team just to show how truly valued they are, and the wonderful impact they have on the wellbeing of our residents.
